Maya has officially started taking her baths in the real tub! She's been squished in her infant tub for awhile now, but I was nervous about her in the big tub. We tried it Thursday for the first time, and she didn't seem to even notice the difference. She was too busy playing with her toys. What a big girl!

Maya has really become the talker lately. We are always trying to get her to say something "real" such as mama, dada, or hello, but she still has her own little language. Today she said "hi" directly to me, but I think it was just chance. It sure sounded genuine though! Lately her favorite phrase is bababababa.

AJ finished work early today so we took advantage of the nice weather and headed to the zoo. We didn't stay long (the nice part of a zoo pass) but it was nice being there all together. We are hoping to hit the zoo again next Wednesday if everything works out well.

Maya turned 8 months old on Friday, but I forgot to take her picture before we went to the gymnastics meet. After the meet, neither of us were in the mood to take pictures. Saturday the blanket that we take her pictures on was in the wash, and I didn't get it dried in time. So finally, here is her 8 month--and two days--picture. It's getting increasingly hard to get her to lay still to take the pictures, but with a little distraction, we were able to get this great one on only the second shot!Saturday, February 21, 2009

We've got to remove Maya's bumper off of her crib tomorrow. She was upset when going to bed tonight and was pulling herself up on it. I'm sad because her crib won't look as cute, but better safe than pretty! We tried two different gates in the living room to make that area safer for her, but neither worked like we hoped. We are resorting to getting a gated play area instead. Hopefully this will solve our problems!

It's amazing to me that Maya just started crawling a few days ago. Today she was pulling herself up onto the sofa and trying to climb on top of it to reach toys. She was walking along the edge of the sofa, and could scale obstacles in her way as she crawled across the floor. How did she learn to do this so quickly?? We are taking a much needed trip to babies 'r us to get some baby-proofing supplies tomorrow!Eating at Joe's

After driving around for over an hour, we finally ended upon Joe's Crab Shack for lunch. While we thought the food was a little pricey for the amount you got, we had a good time and Maya seemed to enjoy herself. Maya tried cheerios for the first time today. We're not quite sure if she liked how they tasted, but they seemed to be a lot of fun to play with. She has a hard time getting them into her mouth, usually she just ends up throwing them over her shoulder. When you hold one up for her, she acts like a baby bird and opens her mouth and whimpers until you feed her. Thursday, February 5, 2009

Maya finally got all of her movements coordinated and started crawling today! I know that this means that she can get into a lot more stuff now, but I was so proud of her! I even got her on video!"Book Club"
Wednesday, February 4, 2009 -- "Book Club"
Today we all went to Maya's "book club" at the library. We dropped Sharon and Kelsey's bags off at the airport beforehand since story time doesn't get over until 10:30 and their flight was scheduled to leave at 12:00. Everything worked out well, and it was a lot of fun having them there during "book club." Another fun day!
Tuesday, February 3, 2009 -- Another fun day!
Today we thought it would be fun to get Maya's pictures taken. There is really no significance in her age right now (7 1/2 months) but I had a coupon and it was something to do. Well, she looked really cute, but absolutely refused to smile! I only ordered one pose, which is what I wanted to do, so hopefully I will be happy with it when I go to pick the pictures up in a week. After that we went out to an early dinner at Applebees and then dropped Maya off at home with Daddy so us ladies could get pedicures... so relaxing. Just another fun day with Sharon and Kelsey!Fun at the science museum!

Since it was a little cold for the zoo, we used our free visitors passes and went to the science museum. It was a lot of fun and we even tried out the explosion show! Maya did suprisingly well with all of the loud noises. Afterwards we did a little shopping and then made our way home to hang out with Daddy.Visitors!

Kelsey and Sharon came to visit today! Maya had a few crying episodes, but overall, it was a lot of fun having them here to play with. We had a mini-super bowl party complete with football-shaped brownies! yum! We are looking forward to the next few days with our visitors!
